Former Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin has "no shortage of suitors" for his services, with West Coast reportedly keen on potentially luring the premiership coach to Perth.

Goodwin was relieved of his duties with the Demons with three games remaining in the 2025 season, ending a nine-year spell as senior coach of the club.

The Adelaide great famously led Melbourne to their drought-breaking premiership in 2021 and would take the Demons to the finals in the two following years before a drop in form.

After just seven wins in 20 games, Goodwin's time with Melbourne came to an abrupt end, sparking a race among rival clubs to secure his services.

GWS and Sydney have emerged as keen suitors given his wife's work in New South Wales, with West Coast the latest club tied to the 48-year-old.

A move to the Eagles would see Goodwin reunite with a former assistant of his in Andrew McQualter, who has taken on the role of senior coach at West Coast after a year with Melbourne.

Speaking on The Agenda Setters7 News reporter Mitch Cleary revealed the Eagles have shown an interest in Goodwin.

"I believe West Coast is also having a look at Simon Goodwin," Cleary said on Tuesday night.

"He's got family links in Perth. His wife is based in Sydney, so he's met with both the Giants and the Swans, but I understand the Eagles have also come calling for Simon Goodwin.

"He spent a year with Andrew McQualter at the Demons before McQualter got the job at the Eagles. So, potentially, there's room to move in the Eagles' soft cap to go and target someone like Simon Goodwin.

"He has no shortage of suitors for next year."

Goodwin stepped into the senior role at the Demons as part of a succession plan that included premiership Swans coach Paul Roos, who handed the reins to Goodwin ahead of the 2015 season.

Goodwin, who spent time as an assistant at Essendon before joining Melbourne, won 111 of his 203 games as coach of the Demons, a win rate of 54.93 per cent.
