The list of the names still out-of-contract at the end of 2021 is star-studded.

With the mid-way point of the season approaching, clubs will want to be getting their big names off the market as opposition teams prepare offers for some of the game's biggest names.

The likes of Patrick Cripps, Marcus Bontempelli, Harry McKay, Jack Billings and Zach Merrett are all out of contract and could be tempted by big money and long-term offers to leave their current clubs.

Every club will have their eyes on potential new recruits, but they may need to get their own ducks in a row before looking elsewhere.

We've named the look at the priority out-of-contract re-sining for every club. Did we get it right?

Essendon

Zach Merrett

Merrett's signature is one of the most appealing in the game. Carlton, Port Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Collingwood have all registered interest in the silky left-footer and he has a big decision to make. The Bombers need Merrett to help guide and teach their crop of exciting young midfielders. If he leaves, they run the risk of exposing the youth too early and results will suffer as a result. Him staying is also a massive sign of commitment and faith to the club's rebuild.
