A couple of good laughs in here.

The AFL players have unveiled some of the quirkiest nicknames they have for their teammates in a story on AFL Media.

There were some fun, weird and flat-out bizarre nicknames tossed in there, but these were our five favourites:

Honourable mentions

These nicknames gave us a laugh and were a little unlucky not to make the five.

-Jasper "Shamrock 17" Pittard (North Melbourne)

-Chad "Chooky" Wingard (Hawthorn)

-Mitch "Fed Express" Walker (Hawthorn)

-Bailey "Bazlenka" Smith (Western Bulldogs)

-Kade "Google" Chandler" (Melbourne)

Gary "Chucky" Rohan (Geelong)

There isn't room for two Gary's at Geelong, so Rohan's teammates moved quickly to attribute the ex-Swan a nickname after seeing a resemblance to a Rugrats character.

And he's been stitched up by his own captain with this one.

"There's already a Gaz at Geelong so Rohan is named after the red-headed character from the TV show Rugrats," Selwood said.

Atu "R2" Bosenavulagi (Collingwood)

Collingwood skipper Scott Pendlebury revealed this one due to the difficulty of pronouncing the rookie's surname.

"He's got a really long last name so no-one really ever goes to try to call him by his last name, so all he really gets called is 'R2'," Pendlebury said.

Marty "Marty Hore" Hore (Melbourne)

Demons star Max Gawn proclaimed that Hore is one of those guys whose name is a "good to say 10 times quickly."

"It's beautiful. So he actually gets his full name, which is quite good."

The mature-age VFL Magpie was picked up by the Demons with pick No. 57 in last year's draft.

Luke "Tin Man" Valente (Fremantle)

Dockers captain Nat Fyfe put this out there after the rookie's running style reportedly reminded the boys of a famous character from Alice in Wonderland.

"I think it's to do with they're adjusting his running style to make him more durable and so he's running very rigid like the Tin Man," Fyfe revealed.

Mitch "Brackets" McGovern (Carlton)

The former Crow was given the number 11 at his new club. And according to co-captain Patrick Cripps, it was the perfect way to take some flack out of the power forward.

"He's got the No.11 and everyone is pulling the piss out of him because of his solid build and the fact his No.11 look more like brackets," Cripps said.
