Is a ‘three-peat' on the cards?

With their previous four clashes against St. Kilda being collectively decided by 11-points, the Suns and Saints have developed a fledgling rivalry.

Although the Carrara Kids' record sits at 0-4 against their southern nemesis across this period, Stuart Dew's side, fresh off the back of chain-smoking Cubans, enters ‘Disheartenment Derby XV' as the form side of the pair.

After plucking Collingwood in-front of the sparse MCG crowd last week, and strangling the Cygnets the week prior, the Suns have averaged 89.5 points offensively over the last fortnight – a mean that would have accounted for the Saints in five of their seven appearances this season.

As the league's ugly duckling is perpetually playing the role of Sisyphus, you can be sure that they won't have counted any intact egg shells during the week.

However, if a victory is to be obtained on Saturday afternoon, when the newest chapter of the most irrelevant rivalry in league history is written, it will represent only the fifth time in 11 seasons that the Suns will have won three consecutive games.

Still, punters and pundits have perennially been left disappointed by their flat soufflé efforts in the past, and even though the statisticians and tipsters have Dews' rays reigning supreme in a close one, seeing is still believing with the Gold Coast Suns.
