Alright, folks.

You should all know the drill by now.

Hawthorn

Is ‘consistent inconsistency' to be expected?

Put simply, yes.

We were told as much less than a month ago.

For a side that is currently undergoing a surgical makeover, any expectations must be tempered, and any predictions must not be too narrow.

Despite their sides' 2-5 start to 2021, and their woeful points differential of -165, there is very little good news for you previously well-pampered Hawthorn fans, as your team's run home is rated by Champion Data as the sixth toughest in the competition.

With this in mind, lower the bar, enjoy the fleeting moments of success and nurse yourself to sleep with the sound knowledge that unless you are five-years-old, you will have witnessed at least one cup enter the packed trophy case at Waverley Park.

As your club ditty states, you may love your club, and your depleted side are of course playing to win, but there are still plenty of bumps on the horizon that will need to be navigated with a grin.
