Cooper Trembath has signed a one-year contract extension that will see him stay at North Melbourne until the end of the 2026 AFL season.

Following a strong start to the 2025 season as part of North's VFL program, the Kangaroos picked up Trembath with Pick 10 in the 2025 AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

He was called into the senior side after an injury to Nick Larkey and has had an impressive start to his AFL career. He has registered three goals in each of his first three games.

"His ability to hit the scoreboard and compete at the highest level has been incredibly impressive," said Brady Rawlings, North Melbourne's head of football talent.

"Cooper has plenty of improvement left in him, and with a full pre-season under his belt, we have no doubt he will become an important player for us in the future."

Trembath can play as both a key forward and key defender, with this versatility appealing to North. Standing at 193cm tall, Trembath is known for his strong marking ability.

Still only 19 years old, North Melbourne hopes Trembath will contribute long into the future.

Following his debut against the Giants two weeks ago, Trembath admitted the AFL was a step-up when speaking to North Melbourne's media team.

"It's been a lot more physical, [I am] a lot sorer than I usually am", Trembath said.

"Ten weeks ago, I was playing local footy. To be out there today has been such a blessing."

North Melbourne will finish the 2025 AFL season in 16th place.
