Defenders

Back Pocket - Liam Jones (Carlton)

Jones blanketed Suns co-captain Tom Lynch after a second successive strong performance in his AFL return. Lynch was held to just 10 touches, one mark and one scoring shot in the Blues' win as Jones has re-endeared himself to the Blues' faithful.

Full Back - Alex Rance (Richmond)

Rance's heavyweight battle with Lance Franklin was a highlight of the weekend's play, with the star Tiger doing all he could to will the Tigers over the line late in the game.

12 of his 21 touches were intercept possessions (three more than his season average) as he kept Franklin to just one goal.

Back Pocket - Michael Hibberd (Melbourne)

The former Bomber appears to be loving life at his new club as he continues to excel in 2017.

11 marks led to 27 touches as he was repeatedly a nuisance for the Dogs forward line.

The star Blue continued his outstanding 2017 season with a stunning game against the Suns with 30 touches at an amazing 97 per cent efficiency while taking nine marks, laying nine tackles and having a hand in five scoring plays in the win.

Was just as good as Rance on Saturday afternoon, with 12 intercept possessions of his own to go along with 13 marks in defence.

Had a quiet opening three quarters, but with the game on the line, the champion stepped up in a big way.

11 final-quarter touches included five contested possessions, two clearances, three tackles, one goal and one goal assist as Sydney charged home with the four points.

Wing - Ollie Wines (Port Adelaide)

Typically, Wines used his big body to muscle his way through the contest against the Lions and won 29 possessions in their win over Brisbane.

He also took eight marks, had six inside 50s and kicked two goals in a strong group midfield performance.

Forwards

Half Forward - Lewis Jetta (West Coast)

Jetta gave us a glimpse of what we've been missing from him lately as his speed and class with the ball was on show on Thursday night.

20 touches went at 85 per cent efficiency while he took four marks and booted two goals.

And he did a few things like this...

Centre Half Forward- Jack Watts (Melbourne)

Watts has been full of confidence recently and isn't it showing as there's certainly a presence around him when he's anywhere near the football.

He had 16 touches and three goals against the Dogs, while taking six marks (four inside 50) and laying five tackles in a statement win.

Half Forward - Dayne Zorko (Brisbane)

It's rare that a player will be best on ground when his team loses by 40 points but Zorko did just that on the weekend.

He continued his outstanding 2017 with 32 touches, 12 tackles, 11 inside 50s, five clearances, two goals and a perfect 10 coaches votes as he led a spirited Lions side.

Forward Pocket - Jeff Garlett (Melbourne)

In a lean week for goal-kickers, Garlett could've stood apart from the competition with a bag of five had he had his kicking boots on, but nevertheless, the energetic and instrumental forward was immense for the Dees, kicking two goals and laying nine tackles in his countless acts of pressure.

He also had eight score involvements, the equal-most of anyone on the ground.

Full Forward - Paddy Ryder (Port Adelaide)

Ryder's ruckwork was once again a feature as Port won the clearance battle by nine, however when resting up forward, he managed to boot two goals from just 11 touches. He also managed five inside 50s and four marks as he looked to build some steam heading into a crucial part of the season for the Power.

Forward Pocket - Robbie Gray (Port Adelaide)

Stray kicking aside, Gray was involved in countless Power attacks on Saturday night, ending the game with 21 touches, six tackles, seven marks and 2.4.

He did have four goal assists and 12 score involvements to make up for his poor kicking.

Followers

Ruck -  Nathan Vardy (Geelong)

The Eagles' big man was out to get his former side and did so with great impact at the contest as his 31 hit outs and 15 disposals were highly effective while he also managed six clearances and seven tackles as the Eagles got the win.

Rover - Bryce Gibbs (Carlton)

Career-best performance?

You might say so after the South Australian touched the Sherrin 43 times, laid 10 tackles, took eight marks, had seven clearances, seven inside 50s and booted two goals in an all-time performance.

Ruck Rover: Sam Mitchell (West Coast)

The former Hawk went toe to toe with a familiar rival in Joel Selwood and came out on top, finishing with 29 touches, eight tackles and three clearances as the Eagles sent the Cats packing.

Interchange

Christian Salem (Melbourne)

Another one of the exciting young Dees, Salem was super impressive against the reigning premiers with 23 touches, six tackles, five marks and a delightful goal from 50m.

His role could increase further with Nathan Jones out for a month, so keep your eyes peeled for this rising star.

Nic Newman (Sydney)

Newman was vital for the Swans on Saturday, notching up 26 touches, laying seven tackles and registering seven inside 50s as a huge third quarter provided the spark for the Swans in their 45-point turnaround.

Jarryd Lyons (Gold Coast)

The 24-year-old is enjoying a break out season on the coast, becoming an important part of the Suns' midfield.

24 touches, six clearances, six inside 50s and five tackles wasn't quite enough for the Suns to get the win, but there is plenty of promise from the former Crow.
