BACKLINE

Darcy Byrne-Jones

One of three players to poll a perfect 20 votes in our MVP chase from Round 5 after a strong display against Carlton on Saturday night.

The pacey defender ended the game with 24 touches, nine marks, six intercepts and four rebound 50's in offering plenty of grunt as a small defender.

Tom Stewart

Had a day out against the Kangaroos in the final match of the round, amassing 30 disposals, 14 intercepts, six rebound 50's and close to 600 metres gained.

Was instrumental in defence for Geelong in what was an ugly win over North Melbourne, with Stewart a key figure in collecting the four points.

Jake Lloyd

Was cool, calm and collected for his side in defense despite being unable to hold on for the win.

Lloyd ended the Sydney Derby with 600 metres gained from his 28 touches in what was a significant role in a close finish.

Daniel Rich

A ridiculous 940 metres gained places the Lions veteran in our backline once again as he was able to dictate play in defence and move the ball forward in a damaging fashion.

In what were treacherous conditions, Rich amassed 31 touches and six marks against the Bombers to aid his side to another victory.

Luke Ryan

Was rock-solid for the Dockers down back, taking 12 intercepts and 10 marks whilst moving the ball for 572 metres at a rate of 83.3%.

Is once again showing great versatility as a defender in both a lockdown role and as an attacking threat with ball-in-hand.

Liam Duggan

36 disposals, 13 marks, six rebounds 50's, seven intercepts and a disposal efficiency of 83.3% has the versatile defender in out Team of the Week with comfort.

Was a vital cog off the flank as the Eagles' defensive structure was able to move the ball forward with ease in their victory over the Magpies.

CENTRE

Josh Kelly

The match-winner for the Giants with a sublime goal in the dying moments, but it was his four-quarter effort that lands him on our wing.

The GWS star ended his evening with 26 touches and a goal as the Giants midfield looked to be purring again.

Josh Dunkley

Had a career-best evening against the Suns on Saturday as the Bulldogs eased to an emphatic 10-goal victory.

Dunkley ended his evening with 38 touches, 17 contested possession, eight tackles, seven clearances and two goals. Wow.

Hugh McCluggage

Has an early grasp on an All-Australian spot after a strong opening month or so, with this week no different.

The flashy winger was one of several Lions midfielders to collect the pill with ease, going on to attract the ball on 32 occasions whilst also amassing six marks and a goal.

FORWARD LINE

Shane Edwards

The crafty Tiger was once of the best afield in Thursday's win, amassing 29 touches, 12 contested possessions, over 500 metres gained and a goal against St Kilda.

Was key for Richmond's break-away from the Saints in the second term as the Tigers never looked back from there.

Jack Darling

Paired magnificently with Oscar Allen, while Josh Kennedy was also able to chip-in on the fun as the Eagles talls slaughtered an undermanned Collingwood backline.

Booted five majors and collected 12 contested possessions in an x-factor performance in his side's victory.

Marcus Bontempelli

Will be fighting with Dunkley for the three votes in Round 5 after another dominant display as the Dogs bullied the Suns at home.

Bontempelli led from the front with three goals and 33 touches whilst also going close to 800 metres gained for the evening.

Oscar Allen

Looks to be slotting into a more senior role in Adam Simpson's forward line with comfort and is the heir to the throne in Perth.

Another five goal sees his tally for the season rise to 14 for the season. Stunning to think he's just 22-years of age.

Jack Riewoldt

Another veteran that looks to be thriving in 2021, with the Tigers spearhead adding another five goals to an already impressive tally for this season.

10 score involvements for the day as the Tigers trounced the Saints with ease on Thursday night.

Shai Bolton

The third Tiger to make our forward line. Bolton was arguably the pick of the bunch in his rotation between the midfield and attack.

29 touches, eight clearances, eight score involvements and a goal saw the mercurial mover have a night to remember against the Saints.

FOLLOWERS

Max Gawn

A BOG performance against the Hawks from the Demons skipper.

Was a great threat around the ground as well as being at his usual, dominant-self in the ruck to claw his side back into a positive deficit and extend the club's undefeated start.

Ended his afternoon with 26 disposals (19 contested), 10 marks, five clearances and a goal to go with his 24 hit-outs.

David Mundy

Showing that age is just a number. The veteran onballer was all class against the Crows, collecting 28 touches (13 contested), laying eight tackles and booting a goal.

Has somehow found a new gear in 2021 and currently boasts a place in our top 10 for MVP votes after the opening five rounds.

Lachie Neale

Back to his best on the weekend with a stat-line of 38 touches, 17 contested possessions, seven marks and two goals against the hapless Bombers.

After a slow start and some setbacks through injury, Neale's Brownlow-esque dominance was on display once again this weekend and we can only hope for more.

INTERCHANGE

Ed Langdon

Is flying under the radar this season as one of the competition's most reliable wingers.

Langdon was involved in the Demons' swift passage all day and ended his evening with three goals when moving forward.

Jack Redden

Might have been the pick of the bunch for the Eagles' rampant midfield from Friday night.

Gaff and Sheed could have had spots of their own in this side would it have been any other weekend, but Redden was the spark in the engine room and stepped up to the occasion.

Sam Menegola

Was as damaging as ever down at Kardinia Park, rotating through the forward line and midfield on his way to 28 possessions, 11 contested touches and two goals.

Moved the ball at 82% efficiency, which has come to be expected by the Cats onballer.

Lance Franklin

Put on a dazzling performance against the Giants to boot five majors and ignite a fiery Battle of the Bridge.

The aforementioned Darling, Allen and Riewoldt pip Buddy for a starting role given their side landed four points from the weekend. Narrowly missed out.
