Team of the week: Round 5

Defenders Back Pocket: Tom Doedee (Adelaide) Doedee was a key part in stopping Sydney's forward line last week with 11 marks and 25 disposals at 76% efficiency. Full Back: Robbie Tarrant (North Melbourne) Robbie Tarrant showed once again that he needs to be included in the best defenders in the league alongside Alex Rance and Michael Hurley. 16 marks and 20 disposals as a key defender is elite. Back Pocket: Rory Laird (Adelaide) Laird is as consistent as they come for the Crows and he rarely has a bad game. 30 disposals off half back always helps. Half Back: Kade Simpson (Carlton) Kade Simpson AKA the Benjamin Button of the AFL. 31 disposals with 30 of them being kicks at 70% efficiency is huge for the Blues. He had 28 disposals at 78% efficiency. Half Back: Alex Witherden (Brisbane) 27 disposals at 85% efficiency across half back is huge and the Lions have found a good one in Alex Witherden. Centre Wing: Stephen Coniglio (GWS) Coniglio continues to rack up disposals every week and has become the central part of GWS' midfield without Josh Kelly. Centre: Nat Fyfe (Fremantle) He is back! Fyfe confirmed that he is back to his Brownlow Medal best with 43 disposals, seven marks and a goal. Forwards Half Forward: Brett Deledio (GWS) Deledio's best game for GWS so far with two goals and 29 disposals. Centre Half Forward: Tex Walker (Adelaide) Tex put his haters to bed against the Swans and lead from the front with four goals to take his Crows over the line. Half Forward: Robbie Gray (Port Adelaide) In a bad loss for his team, Robbie Gray still shone with 32 disposals, seven tackles and goal. Forward Pocket: Luke Bruest (Hawthorn) Breust kicked five goals in Hawthorn's loss to North Melbourne as a reminder that he's still one of the gun forwards of the AFL. Full Forward: Ben Brown (North Melbourne) Brown continues to show that he is the best marking forward in the competition. Four goals this week is quiet compared to other games this year which says something about how talented he is. He kicked two goals and had 18 touches. Followers Ruck: Max Gawn (Melbourne) Gawn dominated on Tuesday night with 56 hitouts to Toby Nankervis' 19. Rover: Patrick Cripps (Carlton) Cripps was huge against the Eagles last weekend with 34 disposals in the middle of the ground. Interchange Interchange: Isaac Heeney (Sydney) Heeney competed throughout the night against Adelaide and kept his Swans in the game. Interchange: Seb Ross (St Kilda) Ross took some much needed pressure off Jack Steven this week with 31 disposals.
