The Tasmania Devils have been given the green light to enter the AFL competition after they secured enough votes in favour of the Macquarie Point stadium build.
Key independents Bec Thomas, Tania Rattray and Casey Hiscutt indicated they would vote yes, taking the total to eight, approving the $1.13 billion venture.
Thomas and Hiscutt's approval of the stadium build comes as the pro-venue camp reaches seven, with three from Liberals and three from Labor. The minimum requirement for the project to be passed is eight.
The venue was a key condition of the AFL for the club's entry.
The state's upper house began its final debate on Wednesday after months of speculation regarding the cost of the build.
Thomas revealed her stance on the venue that is hoped to be built by 2029, a year after the Devils' introduction, noting six key points.

"I have long said with all my heart from the outset that I want to be able to support this," Thomas said on ABC.
"I want Tasmania to have the opportunities that other states have. We deserve to have the infrastructure that other states have. We deserve to have our own AFL team, and that's long overdue.
"But I've heard the community concern about the cost of this proposed Stadium at Macquarie Point."
It is understood that Independent MLC for Murchison, Ruth Forrest, stands against the build.
Now Montgomery Independent Casey Hiscutt seals it.
After Bec Thomas voted in support, his is the 8th vote needed to approve the Macquarie Point stadium.
A vote to approve will certainly pass, with a number of MLCs still to contribute to the debate. @abcsport#politas https://t.co/1owju0a6Py

Eight MLCs (Labor's Luke Edmunds and Sarah Lovell, Liberals Kerry Vincent, Jo Palmer and Nick Duigan and independents Bec Thomas, Casey Hiscutt and Tania Rattray) have declared they are in favour of the stadium.
Five (independents Mike Gaffney, Meg Webb, Ms Forrest and Rosemary Armitage and Green Cassy O'Connor) are against.
Tasmania is set to be integrated into the state-league level across the men's and women's competitions, and will build towards its 2028 introduction.
