Sydney forward Sam Reid is set to have surgery on an Achilles injury suffered in the NEAFL on Saturday against GWS.

Reid suffered the same injury in 2016, forcing him to miss the finals of that season however this was on the opposite leg and is expected to miss six weeks.

Speaking at the 2018 Swans Squad Clinic, coach John Longmire said the club was hopeful Reid would be "up and running by the end of the season" as the Swans push for the top four.

Reid has not played since Sydney beat GWS in round three due to a quad tear, after playing 22 games in 2017.
