Triple M's Damian Barrett believes other clubs are under the impression the Sydney Swans are up to something during the upcoming trade period.

Sydney will likely lose premiership player Dan Hannebery and speedster Gary Rohan this October, as the pair requested for trades out of the SCG.

Hannebery is almost certain to land at St Kilda, while Geelong loom as Rohan's potential destination, given it's his hometown.

The Swans have been strongly linked to Darcy Moore all season long, although Barrett spoke on Triple M on Saturday, and suggests the club could land a fish bigger than Moore this off-season.

“Dan Hannebery spoke during the week about his situation, he’s now committed — providing the medical comes back ok — to go to St Kilda footy club,” Barrett said.

“But he was approached by the Swans about leaving it which I think’s an interesting scenario.

“It certainly gives the other clubs in the competition the impression that they are still preparing to bring someone quite big in.

“The way I’m reading it a bigger name than the one that’s been linked to them all year — that being Darcy Moore… The feeling amongst other clubs is that they’re clearing out people on good money and positioning themselves to bring someone in of a nature bigger than Darcy Moore.

“So clearly a watch this space.”

Despite being linked to the Gold Coast Suns on a long-term deal, star Sydney defender Jake Lloyd re-committed to the club on a four-year deal on Friday.
