SuperCoach Stock Market: Bye round edition – Part 2

Check out players to buy, hold and sell, as well as breakevens and likely price changes for this week 👇

The first bye round is over and hopefully SuperCoach owners have gotten through unscathed with injuries, suspensions or just with a lack of players available in round 12.

Round 13 awaits and the second of the bye rounds will prove to be an interesting one for owners.

Owners who will look to trade this week, will be looking to trade out those who are scheduled for the bye this week, in order to bring in players who have already had the bye last round and won't miss again for the rest of the season.

Plenty of options available this week, so let's look ahead to Round 13 and see who to buy, hold and sell, as well as low breakevens and projected price rises.

BUY

Mitch Owens ($117,300) (MID)

The young Saints rookie will find himself in a lot of sides this week, given the Saints have had their bye and he scored 89 points the week before against the Kangaroos.

Owens previously had a two point-scoring game but that was when he was the medical sub, so that has brought his average down, and gives him still a low breakeven of -22 and a projected price rise of $30.2k this week.

Considering he amassed 14 disposals, two goals and 10 tackles against the Kangaroos, it's fair to say that he will keep his spot in the side and the Saints rate him, so look for him to continue to get plenty of opportunities in the back end of the season.

Jacob Wehr ($123,900) (DEF)

The young Giants defender has had a solid couple of games to start his career, averaging 55.5 points, which gives him a breakeven of -38 and a projected price rise of $41.9k, so he will be a popular downgrade this week from players such as Sam De Koning.

Given that the Giants have just had their bye and defender Lachie Whitfield's injury status is up in the air, Wehr looks to be a nice option in defence and an extra player playing throughout the rest of the bye rounds.

Over 10,000 owners have already traded him in, and other owners should follow suit.

Zach Merrett ($520,700) (MID)

The gun Bombers midfielder has been a consistent SuperCoach scorer across his career, but this season he has been overlooked, understandably due to Essendon's poor play in 2022.

Merrett is currently only in 1.1% of teams despite averaging 106.1 points on the season and historically he is a good scorer in the second half of seasons and at $520k, he is a steal and likely won't get cheaper than this season.

After scoring 102 and 130 in the past two games, Merrett has a breakeven of 75 which he should get, and a projected price rise of $5.7k.

The 26-year old's price shouldn't fluctuate too much, but his cheap price and the fact they have a big prime time game against Carlton this Friday night, means that Merrett will be primed for a big one and would be a nice point of difference in owners' midfields.

HOLD

Bailey Smith ($533,700) (FWD/MID)

The Bulldogs ball-magnet was recently suspended for two weeks for a headbutt on Geelong's Zach Tuohy which is good enough reason to trade away but given his dual position status and high scoring potential, he is worth holding on the bench until his return.

Pretty much if owners have enough bench options in either their forward line or midfield then holding is a good option as it saves having to trade a premium, and Smith will be a handy premium down the stretch in finals.

Not a necessity to hold but if you have coverage then hold and reap the benefits later on in the season.

Tom Green ($489,600) (MID)

The Giants' brute midfielder enjoyed a fantastic start to 2022, averaging 124.8 points across the first month of the season, but since then he has cooled off a bit.

Green's average is down to 108.1 points per game currently and has only hit the ton once in the past month.

Green's ownership percentage has dropped by 6% in recent weeks with owners parting ways with the Giants star.

The 21-year old is worth holding as the bye will be a good time to rest and reset for the second half of the season.

If Green starts the second half of the season like he did the first, then he will prove to be of great value from this week onwards.

Patrick McCartin ($376,300) (DEF/FWD)

The Swans key defender has rejuvenated himself this season and has found some very good form over the past few weeks, averaging 85 points over his past three games.

McCartin found himself in the 'sell' section of the stock market and few weeks back but has proven to be a reliable option in defence.

The Swans have the bye but McCartin is worth holding if you have enough players playing this week as his dual position status gives owners more flexibility.

Still only has a breakeven of 52 so still has a bit more cash to make.

Close to 6,000 owners have parted ways with McCartin in order to bring in Jacob Wehr, but I believe Sam De Koning and Robbie McComb are better options to be downgrading from.

SELL

Sam De Koning ($360,700) (DEF/FWD)

De Koning is in a similar situation to McCartin as they both have the bye this week, but are both scoring well enough to remain in a lot of owners' sides.

The Cats key defender has been a revelation this season, which has seen him skyrocket into Rising Star contention, but now seems to be the opportune time to either downgrade to Jacob Wehr or upgrade to someone like Jack Sinclair.

Over 13,000 owners have traded out the young gun, making him the most traded out player this week, which is unfortunate given how well he is playing, but his best scoring games seem to be average scoring games for premiums, so he needs to go sooner rather than later in the SuperCoach scheme of things.

Robbie McComb ($265,100) (FWD/MID)

The Bulldogs livewire has pleased many owners who brought him in at the base price, but his run of SuperCoach relevancy seems to have come to an end.

With the bye coming for the Bulldogs, it is time to downgrade McComb to a player like Mitch Owens or Jacob Wehr, which seems to be a popular trade pattern this week.

Not much more needs to be said as McComb won't make much more cash and his job security isn't high at the kennel, so move him on this week.

Greg Clark ($243,300) (MID)

It is not a necessity to trade out Clark this week, but if you have other plans for De Koning or McComb, then Clark is your next best target to downgrade to.

Clark has been solid for SuperCoach owners since his debut against Richmond, whilst not setting the house on fire at the same time.

Averaging 69.4 points across five games, Clark is a handy backup option on midfield benches across the competition, meaning he could stay around for longer if you have other areas of concern.

If Clark is your best option to downgrade this week, then trade him out and have no regrets.
