Gold Coast are reportedly set to take at least six, and potentially even up to 10 players to the trade table this off-season as they continue to regenerate their list.

The names that have been thrown around are just fringe players, with important midfielder Aaron Hall and defender Rory Thompson both among those whose future is still up in the air.

"They've told at least half a dozen players and quite possibly as many as 10, who are either contracted or uncontracted, that they will be talking about them potentially in the upcoming trade period," Barrett  told Triple M's Friday Huddle.

"It's an unusual step, clubs don't telegraph it as they appear to have done.

"The names that I've managed to get are some obvious candidates that have been around for a while in this space, they being (Brandon) Matera, (Trent) McKenzie. (Matt) Shaw will be another.

"Rory Thompson's an interesting one. A couple of years ago, he looked the goods. (He) is contracted for another two years, but is aware the club will be taking conversations about him, and he is open to that possibility.

"(Tom) Nicholls...also Aaron Hall. I haven't been able to get to the bottom of this, but Aaron Hall, whose form has wavered at various times, looks a world beater sometimes...he also could be gettable for a club that wants to come to the Suns with the right offer.

"They're certainly looking at it, and not just players who are out of contract."

Hall's name is one of the most surprising on the list, given the midfielder has played 97 games for the Suns in his career, and hasn't played fewer than 15 games a season since his debut year in 2012.
