Gold Coast recruit Harrison Wigg has suffered a setback in his first pre-season as a Sun, fracturing his ankle at training.

Wigg, who joined the Suns from Adelaide along with pick 54 and next year's fourth-round selection in exchange for pick 39, was forced from the training track on Monday, with scans later revealing the fracture.

The club will determine the best course of action in the coming days.

The 21-year-old was recruited by Adelaide with pick No.35 in the 2014 National Draft, before being traded this year.

He averaged 25 disposals in the SANFL in 2017, but is yet to make his senior AFL debut.
