State League wrap-up: Round 5

SANFL

Central District 21.11-137 def. Adelaide Crows 10.7-67
Adelaide reserves had a disappointing weekend, getting thrashed by Central District. Second year forward Ben Davis was the shining light, snagging three goals, while Darcy Fogarty had 16 touches and one goal.
Rookie listed Jackson Edwards topped the disposal count for the Crows with 23 disposals.

WAFL

Perth 10.7-67 def by East Perth 21.11-137
West Coast's affiliate East Perth faced Perth this week, with East Perth coming home with 37 point victory.
Small forward Jack Petruccelle bagged four goals, while draftee Brayden Ainsworth was influential with his 23 disposals.
Pick 13 in last year's draft, Jarrod Brander, is pushing for selection after impressing with two goals and 18 touches while Mathew Allen and Fraser McInnes both also bagged two goals each.

NEAFL

Brisbane 12.11-83 def. Gold Coast 5.6-36
Brisbane and Gold Coast faced off in the traditional Q-Clash, with Brisbane having plenty of senior players fighting for selection. Sam Mayes was everywhere with 31 touches, while Rhys Mathieson also chimed in with 27 disposals and a goal. Clay Beams and Tom Bell played the supporting cast with 26 disposals each, while senior players Josh Walker and Rohan Bewick both kicked two majors each.
Pick number 18, Brandon Starcevich, continued his fine form this season, collecting 20 disposals and kicking two goals.
After being dropped for the Q-Clash, Aaron Hall played a lone hand for the Suns affiliate. He laid an impressive nine tackles as well as having 25 disposals.
Rookie listed Jacob Dawson (17 disposals) and Max Spencer (15 touches and two goals) were also impressive for the Suns.
Michael Barlow didn't feature, after an impressive outing last week.

VFL

Collingwood 16.10-106 def. Essendon 12.6-78
Daniel Wells made his full return to footy this weekend, collecting 21 touches and five tackles as well as a goal, however the most encouraging was his ball movement and decision making.
Ales Fasolo is also pushing for a recall after returning from shoulder surgery as he kicked four goals and handed a few off in a dominate display.
Rupert Wills and Brayden Sier were also impressive inside the contest.
Essendon saw the return of Aaron Francis, after coming back to football after mental health issues as read the ball and took intercepted marks with ease.
Jayden Laverde provided a heap of impact in patches while Kyle Langford didn't put a foot wrong with 32 disposals.
Jackson Merrett was a late withdrawal and has been including in the senior side after Orazio Fantasia was ruled out through injury.
Geelong 13.9-87 def. Footscray 10.8-68
Rookie Jamaine Jones headlined the goal kickers for the Cats on the weekend, registering three majors, while Stewart Crameri is also pushing for selection after bagging two goals in Geelong's win.
Cult hero Wylie Buzza also kicked two, while ex-North Melbourne forward Aaron Black was named in Geelong's best.
Shane Biggs put in a solid display for Footscray (23 disposals and seven marks) while talls Lewis Young (19 disposals), Jordan Roughead and Tom Campbell (49 hitouts combined) and Jackson Trengove (one goal) were also solid.
Coburg 12.11-83 def by. Box Hill Hawks 24.11-155
The Hawks have plenty of depth in their reserves and it showed this weekend. Former GWS midfielder and number two draft pick Jono O'Rourke starred with 34 disposals, while Brendan Whitecross also had 34.
Young forward Mitchell Lewis again starred with three goals after being selected in Hawthorn's extended squad, while Will Langford (19 disposals) and Kaiden Brand (20 disposals) all played a role.
Ryan Schoenmakers returned from injury and kicked three goals as did rookie Conor Nash.
Small forward Teia Miles was named best on ground with seven marks and 23 disposals.
Richmond 17.19-121 def Casey Demons 13.8-86
Cameron Pedersen was massive for Casey this week after Casey was missing Sam Weideman, Jayden Hunt, Harley Balic and Billy Stretch due to the possibility of being selected in Melbourne's on Tuesday.
Pedersen had five goals and 17 disposals, while dropped forward Tom Bugg was assisted off the ground in the second quarter after sustaining a left leg injury.
Jay Kennedy Harris (one goal) and Mitch Hannan (18 disposals) were also solid.
Anthony Miles was again impressive in his push for senior selection collecting 28 disposals and four tackles, while Shai Bolton was also dangerous with 2.4 and 20 disposals.
Pick 20 in last years draft, Callum Coleman-Jones kicked three goals.
Sandringham 10.15 75 def by. Port Melbourne 12.3 85
After being dropped by the Saints, David Armitage continued his push for senior selection with a 32 disposal, one goal outing against Port Melbourne. This follows up from his 31 disposal effort in last weeks win against the Cats.
Forward Nathan Wright, booted two goals, while young midfielder Ed Phillips, who is yet to debut for the Saints, collected 31 disposals.
