State league wrap-up: Round Three

WAFL

East Perth 11.3 (69) def. by Claremont 16.9 (105)

AFL hopeful Jye Bolton continues to impress for Claremont. He had 33 disposals and seven marks to help lead his side to a big win.

For East Perth, West Coast listed player Luke Partington again performed well. He continues to make his case for a senior call-up, finishing with 29 touches. Dom Sheed (37 touches and seven inside 50s) and Eric Mackenzie (21 disposals and 11 marks) also played well, making their case for a West Coast recall.

Perth 16.12 (108) def. East Fremantle 14.11 (95)

Clinton Jones continues to show that he has still got it, finishing with 42 disposals and five inside 50s for Perth. Could he still cut it as an AFL footballer?

Ex-North Melbourne player Liam Anthony was one of East Fremantle's best. He managed to collect 29 touches, while also recording five inside 50s.

South Fremantle 23.8 (146) def. West Perth 6.7 (43)

Haiden Schloithe has kept up his good form to start the year, recording 38 disposals, eight inside 50s, and kicking two goals. Blaine Johnson kicked 6.4 for the victors, while Mason Shaw chipped in with five goals.

In what was a bleak day for West Perth, Shane Nelson had a lot of the footy, finishing the game with 40 touches.

Subiaco 11.16 (82) def. Peel Thunder 10.7 (67)

Lachlan Delahunty was instrumental in the middle for Subiaco. He had 23 hit-outs, and had 27 disposals.

For Peel Thunder, Matthew Taberner kicked four goals, while Darcy Tucker finished with 30 touches and 10 marks.

VFL

There was only one match in the VFL this weekend, with the remaining six matches from round one taking place over the Easter weekend.

Port Melbourne 12.15 (87) def. Northern Blues 8.10 (58)

The VFL opener saw Jordan Lisle kick seven goals for the Borough to help lead them to a win. Potential AFL player, Brody Mihocek, was also impressive for Port Melbourne, registering 27 disposals and 13 marks.

Carlton's Nick Graham could potentially earn a call-up to the seniors this week. He finished the game with 37 touches and 10 marks.

SANFL

Glenelg 15.12 (102) def. Port Adelaide 13.7 (85)

Former Richmond player Liam McBean kicked six goals straight to lead Glenelg to a win over Port Adelaide. Andrew Bradley was also good for the victors, amassing 25 disposals.

For the Magpies, Brendon Ah Chee may have earned himself an AFL call-up. He finished the game with 30 touches, 10 marks, seven tackles, seven inside 50s, and three goals.

West Adelaide 11.4 (70) def. by South Adelaide 11.7 (73)

A stellar performance from former Sydney player Abe Davis, has helped South Adelaide to a tight win over West Adelaide. He had 26 disposals, nine marks, and six inside 50s.

For West Adelaide, it was Aaron Fielke who was the stand out. He managed 17 touches, six inside 50s, and three goals.

Norwood 12.16 (88) def. North Adelaide 9.12 (66)

Former Sydney and Adelaide player Lewis Johnston had 23 disposals and 12 marks in Norwood's win over North Adelaide. Brady Dawe also was good for the Redlegs, kicking three goals.

It was a tough outing for North Adelaide, however, ex-Melbourne player Mitch Clisby (22 touches, four inside 50s and five rebound 50s) performed well.

Central District 6.14 (50) def. by Eagles 14.13 (97)

The Eagles dominated Central Districts, claiming a 47-point win. James Boyd was excellent for the winners, collecting 26 touches and grabbing seven marks.

Chris Jansen was Central Districts best player, putting in a solid 25 disposal and nine mark effort.

Sturt 9.10 (64) def. by Adelaide 10.6 (66)

Brad Crouch is pushing for a place in the firsts, after a dominant performance for Adelaide's SANFL side following his return from injury. He managed 40 touches and 10 tackles. Ex-basketball player and Crows listed half flanker, Hugh Greenwood, also played well, he finished with 27 disposals and two goals.

Ex-Port Adelaide player Sam Colquhoun was great for Sturt, he had 28 touches and five rebound 50s in the two-point loss.

NEAFL

Aspley 17.15 (117) def. Canberra 7.7 (49)

Matt Payne put in an excellent performance for Aspley over the weekend,  collecting 33 disposals, and kicked a goal. His performance helped lead his side to a big win over Canberra.

It was a poor outing from Canberra, however, Jordan Harper put in a good game, picking up 26 touches.

Sydney 20.9 (129) def. Southport 3.9 (27)

A dominant Sydney defeated Southport by an incredible 102 points. Toby Pink kicked six for the Swans, while James Rose made his case for a senior AFL game, kicking three goals and collecting 22 disposals.

Jordan Keras was the lone shining light for Southport. He had 38 touches in the loss.

GWS 12.13 (85) def. by Sydney Uni 20.8 (128)

Sydney Uni have continued their good start to the year, knocking off the Giants by 43 points. Matt Rawlinson was everywhere, kicking a goal and racking up 34 for the victors.

GWS player Dawson Simpson had a fantastic game for the Giants, he amassed an incredible 59 hit-outs, and also chimed in with a goal.

NT Thunder 11.9 (75) def. by Brisbane 15.11 (101)

Claye Beams, younger brother of Lions' skipper, Dayne, helped lead Brisbane to an impressive win over the Norther Territory. Matthew Hammelmann was also good for the Lions, kicking three goals.

For the Thunder, it was Darren Ewing who again played well, kicking five goals for the second time in two games this year.

Redland 9.6 (60) def. by Gold Coast 23.14 (152)

It was a good weekend for Gold Coast, with their NEAFL side claiming a massive win over Redland. Suns rookie listed player Keegan Brooksby was very impressive, kicking four goals, and amassing 23 touches and 20 hit-outs.

Clay Cameron performed well for Redland, despite the heavy loss, he had 24 disposals and seven marks.
