An early fourth-quarter burst from Adelaide saw them do just enough to hold off a fast finishing South Adelaide side on Sunday afternoon.
Brad Crouch collected 31 touches and laid six tackles in the win. Former New Mexico Lobos basketball player Hugh Greenwood had 25 touches and laid eight tackles in midfield and he looks to make a seamless transition into AFL.
Key forward Elliott Himmelberg booted three goals from his 10 touches.
