VFL

Northern Blues 12.8 (80) def. Geelong 11.9 (75)

The Northern Blues held to beat Geelong a fast finishing by five points on Saturday afternoon. Nick Graham was excellent for the victors, he had 37 disposals, eight tackles, and seven marks. Kristian Jaksch also chimed in with four majors.

Rhys Stanley did well after being dropped, he finished with 21 disposals, 33 hit-outs and two goals.

Williamstown 16.6 (102) def. Footscray 2.11 (23)

It was a tough day in front of goal for Footscray, only managing to kick two goals. Nicholas Meese had a ridiculous day in the ruck for Williamstown, finishing with 94 hit-outs, 17 touches and a goal. Arryn Siposs was also good with three goals.

On a dark day, Nick Jamieson was among the best for Footscray, he kicked a goal and collected 24 disposals. Ruckman Tim English suffered a cheekbone injury early on in the game.

North Ballarat 8.13 (61) def. by Richmond 14.19 (103)

It was an easy win for Richmond, as they now find themselves in third position on the VFL ladder. Tyson Stengle kicked three goals and had 17 disposals for the Tigers, while his teammate Jacob Townsend (25 touches and 11 tackles) also performed well.

Hayden Walters was good for the Roosters, he slotted two goals and collected 22 disposals.

Collingwood 13.8 (86) def. by Essendon 15.10 (100)

Essendon flew home with the wind, recording an impressive comeback win. Brent Stanton had 28 disposals and kicked two goals, while Craig Bird was again good with 31 touches and a goal.

There were some impressive individual efforts for Collingwood, with Tim Broomhead (37 dispsoals), James Aish (27 disposals and a goal) and Mason Cox (15 disposals, 30 hit-outs, and two goals) all performing well.

Casey 12.14 (86) def. Coburg 6.7 (43)

Corey Maynard put in a good performance and Saw Weideman slotted three goals as Casey took the win over Coburg. Angus Brayshaw also had a good game for the Demons.

Keenan Posar did some good things for the Lions, he managed to slot two goals despite the loss.

Werribee 17.3 (105) def. Port Melbourne 15.12 (102)

Werribee surprised some people, claiming a thrilling three-point win over Port Melbourne. Lindsay Thomas slotted four goals, while Todd Goldstein asserted his dominance, kicking two goals and was crucial in the middle.

Despite the loss, Jordan Lisle was good in front of goal, he managed to kick five majors for the Borough.

Sandringham 14.11 (95) def. by Box Hill 22.10 (142)

It was a goal fest for Box Hill as they blew Sandringham out of the water. on Sunday. Teia Miles slotted five goals for the Hawks, his teammates Andrew Moore (28 disposals, nine marks, and four goals), and Ty Vickery (three goals) also impressed.

Nicholas O'Kearney was no doubt one of the Zebras' best, he had 35 touches and a goal.

WAFL

Claremont 10.10 (70) def. by East Perth 11.8 (74)

East Perth held on late to claim the four points against Claremont. Jonathon Giles performed well in the win, recording 41 hit-outs and a goal, while Chris Masten racked up 38 disposals.

Despite his side going down, Bailey Banfield had a lot of the ball collecting 32 touches.

East Fremantle 9.7 (61) def. by Subiaco 19.8 (122)

Five goal hauls to both Liam Ryan and Bradley Stevenson helped Subiaco sink East Fremantle. Justin Joyce was also very good, he finished the game with a goal and 26 disposals.

Jonathon Marsh had a lot of the ball for the Sharks, collecting 36 disposals, while Cameron Eardley had 28 touches despite being put on report.

Swan Districts 11.6 (72) def. Peel Thunder 8.8 (56)

A strong last quarter setup a 16-point win for Swan Districts. Former North Melbourne player Matt Riggio had 29 disposals in the win, while Jamie Bennell kicked two goals.

For Peel Thunder it was Jonathon Griffin (39 hit-outs and 20 disposals) and Rory O'Brien (32 disposals) who impressed.

South Fremantle 20.6 (126) def. West Perth 11.13 (79)

After a slow first quarter, South Fremantle shifted into gear and blew West Perth away. Cory Dell-olio kicked four goals for the Bulldogs, while Haiden Schloithe was once again brilliant with 29 touches and one goal.

Shane Nelson might be coming down from a serious bout of leather poisoning today after he recorded 45 disposals for the Falcons.

SANFL

West Adelaide 5.6 (36) def. by Sturt 8.12 (60)

It was some familiar faces putting in the work, as Sturt beat West Adelaide by 24 points n Saturday. James Battersby was everywhere for the victors, finishing with 32 disposals, eight marks, eight tackles and a goal.

As for West Adelaide it was again Kaine Stevens who put in a great showing. He collected 23 disposals, laid nine tackles and kicked a goal.

Eagles 10.3 (63) def. by Norwood 13.19 (97)

Matthew Panos (29 disposals and two goals) has led Norwood to an impressive 34-point win over the Eagles. Mitch Grigg also performed well in the win, he had 31 touches and a goal.

Nick Hayes did everything he could for Woodville West Torrens, kicking three majors.

Glenelg 13.8 (86) def. Adelaide 10.9 (69)

Glenelg survived a late scare to beat Adelaide by 17 points. Terry Milera and Liam McBean both performed well for the Tigers kicking four goals each.

Harrison Wigg (34 disposals) again pushed his case for a seniors call-up, while Scott Thompson (25 touches and 14 tackles) is looking to play more games for the Crows before he finished up his career.

NEAFL

Sydney Uni 18.14 (122) def. Aspley 9.5 (59)

Just two behinds to Aspley in the first quarter led to a disappointing 63-point loss against Sydney Uni. Austin Lucy and Aaron Day both kicked three goals for Sydney Uni, while Xavier Richards was among the best.

Douglas Lawrence had a small bag of three goals for Aspley.

Canberra 9.11 (59) def. by Brisbane 23.15 (153)

Brisbane kicked nine goals in the last quarter to give them an incredible 94-point win over Canberra. Matt Hammelmann was again brilliant kicking five goals, while Marco Paparone (37 touches), Tom Cutler (30 touches and a goal), and Archie Smith (22 touches, 37 hit-outs, and four goals) were all also impressive.

Alex Smout was one of the best on the ground for Canberra, he finished the game with 27 disposals.

NT Thunder 20.13 (133) def. Southport 13.8 (86)

Darren Ewing was at it again for the Thunder, slotting five goals in their win over Southport. At halftime Northern Territory led 111-15, however they would go on to only score another three goals.

Robert Clements did what he could to counter Ewing, kicking five majors himself.

Gold Coast 15.13 (103) def. Giants 10.12 (72)

Gold Coast continues to push for a place in top four after they beat the lowly Giants by 31 points. Trent Mckenzie was excellent for the Suns, finishing with 32 disposals and a goal. So was his teammate Jack Bowes, who recorded 26 touches and two goals.

Even though his side lost, Mathew Walker was efficient in front of goal, kicking five goals from just nine disposals.
