Star Eagle Jack Darling has suffered a fractured cheekbone at training.

The spearhead will be on modified duties for the next few weeks but is a chance to play in West Coast's final pre-season clash against Fremantle on March 7.

Eagles general manager Craig Vozzo said the injury stemmed from a "friendly fire" incident at training.

“It was friendly fire in training and unfortunately he has a small fracture of the cheekbone,” Vozzo told westcoasteagles.com.au.

“He will build back into training, just avoiding contact for the next few weeks, but we’re still confident in terms of round one.”

Darling has led West Coast in goalkicking over the last two seasons and claimed his maiden All-Australian jumper last year.
