Adelaide midfielder Rory Sloane was knocked out during the Crows' win over Melbourne on Saturday.

His head hit the turf after a tackle and he was forced to sit out the remainder of the match.

Shortly after getting back to his feet with the help of trainers, Sloane, as many players do, was seen trying to push trainers away and stay on the field, before skipper Taylor Walker encouraged him to leave the field.

Speaking on Triple M on Wednesday morning, Walker revealed Sloane thought one of the medical staff who was trying to help him off the field, was Bernie Vince, who had been tagging him during the game.

"As soon as I walked over I saw in his eyes he wasn't with it and I recommended that he might go and sit on the bench," Walker said.

"He was pretty reluctant at first ... he thought one of the trainers was Bernie (Vince) and he said to him, 'Listen, Bernie, you're not me mate'."

Walker said Sloane remained in contention to play in this week's blockbuster clash with Geelong at Adelaide Oval.

"I spoke to him yesterday and he has passed the concussion tests so far, but we have our main session today," he said.

"If he gets through that, he should be fine for Friday night."
