GWS midfielder Dylan Shiel was on the receiving end of a controversial bump from Richmond captain Trent Cotchin on Saturday, and suffered delayed concussion following the incident.
The bump saw Cotchin sweat on a decision from the MRP for over 24 hours, although the prayers of the Tiger Army were answered on Monday morning as he was cleared of any wrongdoing and is free to play in Saturday's grand final.
Former GWS and Richmond assistant coach Mark 'Choco' Williams spoke about the incident on SEN on Monday afternoon, and said he had spoken to Shiel following the MRP's decision, suggesting the Giant was perplexed with the outcome.
"Great player, great leader, I love him (Cotchin) a lot but I'll tell you who I love more and that's Dylan Shiel," Williams told SEN on Monday.
"Everyone has missed the point of Dylan because as much as everyone would love 'Cotchy' to play and that's great, Dylan didn't get to play in a preliminary final, the biggest game of his career and the one that he was excelling in by the way.
"... to lose a player that's All-Australian in the first quarter - let's not say it was half way through the second or the second or third quarter, he was out of the game at quarter time. He comes off and that's it.
"Did he get concussed? Yes he did. And did he get concussed in the first collision with Cotchy? Yes he did.
"He could not see properly after that.
"He feels cheated. I've talked to him and he thinks 'wait a minute, the system - I got hit in the head by Cotchy, didn't get a free kick even, I got hit in the head again by David Astbury, didn't get a free kick, what's going on?'
"I feel for him. (He feels) completely cheated by the system. What in the hell?"
The 24-year-old was ruled out of the match at quarter time, and could only manage seven disposals in just 19% of game time.
