The Lions went one better than 2019 - they managed to win a huge final over the Tigers before going out in the preliminary final, a home one of that.

They were unable to capitalise on a once in a lifetime opportunity, the grand final was played on their home deck and they were unable to participate.

A year littered with poor goal kicking, the Lions are primed to challenge for the flag again in 2021 but will need to make drastic improvements in front of the big sticks to win it all.

The Lions will again be competing at the top of the ladder in a bid for the premiership. They will be forced to travel more than last season, however, will be a year older and more finals experienced.

The Lions have managed to bring in Joe Daniher, who will help straighten up one of their clear deficiencies of the last few years, however, he is a question mark himself. The Lions' home ground advantage does give them a huge advantage in the race for a top four finish.

It's hard to see them missing out on the double chance.
