Fremantle are understood to be expressing interest in Claremont midfielder and 2021 Sandover Medal winner Bailey Rogers for the 2022 season.

The Dockers have kept quiet in regards to the Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period this summer, however the recent retirement of luckless onballer Luke Valente has opened up a list spot at Cockburn.

Across town, the Eagles have several local prospects training for an AFL list spot, with former Docker Luke Strnadica among those currently vying for a promotion.

The Dockers have now sparked interest of their own toward some of the WAFL's finest talent, with Rogers linked with a training gig for Justin Longmuir's side, per The West Australian's Jordan McArdle.

Rogers took home the WAFL's highest individual honour last year following a dominant campaign with Claremont, who amassed a preliminary final finish.

The 24-year-old averaged 26.9 disposals, 5.9 marks, 2.7 tackles and over one goal per game across 21 appearances for the Tigers in 2021.

Rogers was among a prolific top echelon of onballers in the WAFL last season, joining teammate Jye Bolton and West Coast draftee Greg Clark on the podium of the Sandover Medal voting tally.

The Claremont star is currently battling an Achilles injury this pre-season, however Rogers is likely to be given enough time to prove his worth to the Dockers prior to the SSP's closure on March 9.

The Dockers are also understood to be considering former Geelong tall Blake Schlensog and fellow South Fremantle star Zac Strom as potential train and trial candidates.

Should Rogers join Fremantle's training program for this pre-season, he will join the likes of fellow state league talents James Tsitas (Gold Coast), Nathan Freeman (Gold Coast), Vincent Adduci (Hawthorn) and Jack Hayes (St Kilda) in being in line for an AFL list spot.

Sydney were the first club to confirm a SSP signing this pre-season, with former Saints forward paddy McCartin joining the Swans this week.
