Geelong captain Joel Selwood has been reported for striking West Coast veteran Sam Mitchell in Thursday night's clash at Domain Stadium.

Selwood was cited for an incident in the opening term, and was placed on report by the field umpires.

While vision of the incident has not emerged as of yet, Selwood was reported for landing on Mitchell and elbowing the Eagle in the head.

Early in the second term Mitchell sought revenge on Selwood, and went after the Cats skipper after he disposed of the ball, getting Selwood in a headlock in the centre of the ground.

It was initially reported that Mitchell's hit on Selwood saw the Eagle had his name taken by the umpires, although after the game it was confirmed it was in fact Selwood who will now sweat on the MRP's decision.

Mitchell could still come under scrutiny for the headlock, although he won't be the only Eagle in hot water.

Luke Shuey will also face a nervous wait on Monday, after collecting Patrick Dangerfield high in the first quarter.
