St Kilda has made a surprise late switch, adding another Supplemental Selection Period (SSP) candidate as the deadline for list finalisation approaches.
Three weeks out from the SSP window closing, Eastern Ranges graduate Blake Chambers has been invited to trial for the Saints' final list spot.
The smooth-moving winger received a contract to play for the club's newly formed VFL program this year, but has been given the chance to earn an AFL opportunity.
It follows Tex Wanganeen and Oskar Ainsworth's trial ending across the past week with both players interrupted by injury across pre-season. Both are expected to play for St Kilda VFL in 2026.
An Eastern Ranges premiership player, Chambers was a mainstay of the lineup last year, with his season highlighted by a sterling performance in the Talent League grand final where he showcased his wide range of attributes, amassing 29 disposals.
Athletic and excellent by foot, he was exceptionally highly rated internally by the Ranges, and received a State Combine invite, but did not feature for Vic Metro.
Clubs have until March 2 to finalise their lists.
