AFL fixturing boss Travis Auld has released the full details for Rounds 10 and 11 of the 2022 AFL Premiership season.

Headling the latest drop is the AFL's annual Dreamtime clash between the Essendon and Richmond Football Clubs, which will make its return to the MCG for the first time since 2019.

However, players and officials affiliated with the Bombers and Tigers will be forced to contend with the nation's politicians for public attention given the fixture is set to take place on Saturday, May 21, the same day as the upcoming federal election.

While the pair of historical rivals will do battle in the standard slot, Carlton and Sydney will commence the latest iteration of Sir Doug Nicholls Round when they face-off at Marvel Stadium on Friday night.

The Gold Coast Suns will also continue to strengthen their ties with the Northern Territory, taking their Round 11 and 12 clashes against Hawthorn and North Melbourne to TIO Stadium in Darwin.

Speaking in the wake of the Tuesday afternoon announcement, Auld claimed that it was exciting to see Richmond and Essendon back in Yarra Park after a two-year hiatus due to COVID constraints.

"It’s great to see the Dreamtime at the 'G returning to the MCG in 2022 after the NT and WA did extraordinary jobs of hosting the match the last two seasons," Auld said.

"Over Rounds 10 and 11, we recognise Sir Doug Nicholls and the impact he had on our great game, and we celebrate the contribution of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players past and present," Auld said.

"Sir Doug Nicholls Round is a highlight of every season, and it is more than just a celebration of the brilliant skills on the field. The Round is a further opportunity to continue to listen and learn from First Nations players and staff at all levels of the game."

Auld also delineated that the next portion of fixture releases would be announced at the cessation of Round 11.
