Hawthorn captain Jarryd Roughead has suffered a setback in his pre-season, undergoing left knee surgery on Monday.
Roughead will miss the next three weeks of pre-season training following the minor clean out, after presenting to club doctors with swelling in his knee following training.
“We found out that Jarryd requires a minor clean up procedure which means that he’s is likely to be out for the next 2-3 weeks,” Hawthorn General Manager of Football Operation Jason Burt said.
“This is obviously disappointing for Jarryd to miss out on pre-season camp however, he remains positive and will now concentrate on his rehab.
“This is only a minor set-back and we expect Jarryd to be fresh and ready for the start of the season.”
