North Melbourne forward Taylor Garner could miss the entire 2018 season, after re-injuring his hamstring during a VFL match on the weekend.

After playing a career-high 18 games last season, Garner hasn't stepped foot in an AFL arena in 2018, and will now need to be monitored for the remainder of the year, after suffering two previous hamstring injuries already this year.

The injury occurred in the dying stages of the Roos' big loss to Geelong, with North Melbourne football boss Cameron Joyce disappointed with the news.

"He experienced some tightness in his hamstring with pretty much the last kick of the game before the final siren," Joyce told nmfc.com.au.

"He'd played really well up until that point and it's very disappointing and frustrating for him, and also the club.

"We'll take as much time as required to ensure that he can get over this hurdle and return to football for a long, sustained run."

Jed Anderson and Jarrad Waite are both listed as 'test' ahead of Saturday's clash with the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.
