West Coast co-captain and free agent Oscar Allen has reportedly held talks with Brisbane, who may view the Eagles forward as a potential replacement for Joe Daniher beyond the coming season.
2025 will see the reigning premiers steer through the season without their champion goalkicker, who announced his retirement after the club's premiership-clinching 60-point victory over Sydney.
Brisbane's tall attack will be led by Eric Hipwood, with fellow flag-winning forward Logan Morris looking to improve on his rookie campaign goal haul of 24 majors.
The Lions acquired delisted Gold Coast veteran Sam Day via the Pre-Season Draft in November to bolster their forward stocks ahead of their flag defence, while Darcy Gardiner, Brandon Ryan and Henry Smith are others who could slot into roles under Chris Fagan.
With Daniher's decision coming midway through the off-season player movement window, the Queensland club was unable to act on bringing in an equal-quality replacement for 2025.
With the aforementioned Allen's contract at West Coast set to expire this season, Brisbane are said to be weighing up a move for the 25-year-old, per AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey.
The report states Allen and the Lions have already spoken as Brisbane looks to sharpen their key forwards stocks 12 months on from Daniher's departure.
Allen is set to fall under a restricted free agency band, meaning the Eagles will have the chance to match a rival's offer and force a trade deal should their co-captain look to move clubs.
Allen has played 93 games in the blue and gold since debuting for the club in 2018, with the tall forward entering his second season as skipper of West Coast.
He booted 53 goals from 23 games in a breakout 2023 season before injuries kept him to just the 11 appearances last year, with Allen recording a return of 20 goals as Jake Waterman stepped in as the No.1 forward.
West Coast have Tom Cole, Jayden Hunt, Jeremy McGovern and Dom Sheed among their list of free agents for 2025, while Campbell Chesser, Tim Kelly, Brady Hough and Rhett Bazzo are part of a long list of unsigned Eagles.
