Former St Kilda great Nick Riewoldt has revealed his top five seeds in the AFL, after two heavyweight clashes on the weekend.
Brisbane defeated Geelong at the Gabba in a close finish, while the Tigers got over the line against the Eagles in one of the games of the season.
With those four sides currently sitting inside the double chance places, Riewoldt believes they're the four best teams in the competition - but almost in the reverse order.
Fourth-placed Richmond and third-placed West Coast are the game's two best sides according to Riewoldt, while the Lions and Cats round out the top four.
While Collingwood would be the logical selection for Riewoldt's fifth seed, the former Saint has the Western Bulldogs ahead of them, given the Dogs have won seven of their past 10 to storm into finals calculations.
“We’ve got the big four. I think Richmond and West Coast are the one and two seeds, despite being three and four on the ladder,” Riewoldt told SEN Breakfast.
“Call Brisbane and Geelong the three and four seeds. Are the Bulldogs the fifth-best team?
“At the moment (I have Collingwood behind the Bulldogs). It depends who (Collingwood) gets back.”
SEN Breakfast co-host Garry Lyon echoed Riewoldt's sentiments, suggesting the Dogs could shake up the finals should they make it.
“The Western Bulldogs have stormed into the eight. If they win this weekend against Adelaide, and just say Essendon loses to Collingwood, they’re going to finish seventh,” he said.
“They’re going to play the Giants in the first week of finals (if they finish seventh) and they just made a mess of the Giants.”
