Current Richmond assistant coach Adam Kingsley has revealed he is open to a senior coaching position in 2023, with both GWS and North Melbourne on the hunt for their next coach.
The 46-year-old played 170 games for Port Adelaide during his playing career, making the transition into coaching following his retirement in 2006.
After a four year stint at the Power among the coaching ranks, Kingsley made the move to Moorabbin, where he spent eight years as an assistant coach at the Saints.
Having held the midfield and stoppage coach role at Punt Road since 2019, Kingsley is now keen to take the next step in his coaching career.
โThatโs the ambition, to be a senior coach, so thatโs where Iโd like to be,โ Kingsley said to SEN's AFL Nation.
โThe processes are, Iโd presume, heating up and Iโd certainly like to be a part of that.
โObviously the last couple Iโve missed out on, and I got some feedback on those which is always valuable, and Iโve used the last 12 months to get to work and try to improve.โ
Following the departures of Leon Cameron and David Noble from their respective clubs, it's set to be a busy few months in the senior coaching market. Big names such as Alastair Clarkson and Ross Lyon have been linked to the roles, while highly valued assistants like Adem Yze and Kingsley have also been touted as potential replacements.
Despite both GWS and North Melbourne being in the midst of respective rebuilds, Kingsley has admitted he isn't "picky" about the destination should he be offered a position, seeing the promise in both lists.
โIโm certainly happy to coach anyone. North Melbourne, as we saw last week, has plenty of potential. Theyโre really difficult to get, these senior jobs, for any assistant and there's plenty of us out there who have ambitions to become senior coaches,โ Kingsley said.
โWhilst youโve got to be careful around what you do, you can sometimes be a little bit too picky. So, I think both jobs available at the moment (GWS and North Melbourne) are quite attractive.โ
