Port Adelaide forward Chad Wingard is reportedly chasing a five-year deal worth $1 million a season, which would see him join an elite club of players earning seven-figure salaries.
The 25-year-old has been rumoured as a possible trade option for the Power, with the club wanting to be more ruthless with their list management.
9 News Adelaide reporter Tom Rehn broke the news on Monday night, and said the next 12 months could be huge for both the Power and Wingard.
"We know David Koch has said no one is safe, Port want to be more ruthless at the trade table, and that's coinciding with reports his management are chasing $1 million a year over five years when he comes out of contract at the end of 2019," Rehn said.
"I think he'll stay for next year, but beyond that I think they’re going to have a real task trying to keep him."
Former Power captain Warren Tredrea was alongside Rehn during his report, and said Wingard's demands could see him traded this season if the club can't justify that salary.
“On that money, don’t rule out a trade from this moment forward,” Tredrea said.
