Gold Coast co-captain Tom Lynch will become a free agent at the end of the 2018 season, and Victorian clubs are getting ready to fight for his signature.

The Herald Sun believe clubs are lining up to show their interest in Lynch, with the 24-year-old set to enter the final year of his deal next season.

Lynch, who played for the Dandenong Stingrays in the TAC Cup and was selected with the 11th overall pick in the 2010 national draft, will reportedly wait until the middle of next season before deciding on where his future lies.

The key forward is likely to wait and see how the Suns start next season and will try to determine the direction of the club before thinking about his future, as a number of Victorian clubs will be waiting for his decision.

The direction of the club took a hit on Tuesday morning, after the Suns told coach Rodney Eade he would not see his contract renewed beyond this season.

Eade then told the Gold Coast there was no point in coaching out the remainder of the season, with assistant coach Dean Solomon set to step in as interim coach for the final three rounds.

Both Collingwood and Richmond have made it known they are on the look out for a key position forward, after both sides failed in their pursuit of Brisbane's Josh Schache and Sydney's Sam Reid, who both signed contract extensions at their respective clubs.

It is believed Lynch could be worth around $1.5 million per season based on the jump in the salary cap next season.

Lynch has played 121 seniors games for the Suns since 2011 for just 34 wins, and the forward is still yet to experience finals football.

After playing every game for the Suns so far in 2017, Lynch was ruled out of the remainder of the season on Tuesday after suffering a PCL injury in his side's loss to Fremantle on Saturday night.
