Richmond star Dustin Martin has reportedly been in discussions with several rival clubs, including the Adelaide Crows.

Rumours surfaced last week that the Crows have offered Martin a five-year deal, worth as much as $6 million.

Channel Nine's Tom Rehn confirmed that there has been some discussion between Martin and the Crows, however, a move appears to be "very unlikely" during this year's trade period.

“I’ve spoken to a couple of people close to the Crows and Martin’s camp and there’s definitely been some dialogue,” Rehn said on radio station, SEN, on Wednesday morning.

“I think there have been a number of clubs, my understanding is as many as half a dozen. He’s one of the most marketable and prized recruits going around and he’s still got a year to run on his contract as you know but there is absolutely a lot of interest coming from the Crows.

“On the weekend I think they (Adelaide) were exposed in their midfield, they were bashed up…he’s seen as the kind of guy that would fit in there brilliantly.

“Is it going to happen? Look, very unlikely but there’s no question the Crows are interested and willing to have a chat.”

While a move this season looks a long shot, the Crows may already be planning their 2017 recruiting strategy, with the 25-year-old set to become a free agent at the end of next year after seven seasons at Punt Road.
