Has Fremantle star Jesse Hogan played his last game for the club?
Australian journalist Kim Hagdorn said the gun forward could be moved on by the Dockers just one season after he was traded from Melbourne.
He played just 12 games in his first season back in Western Australian after having his campaign ended by a foot injury.
The 24-year old is currently taking time away from the club to address his mental health, which is the second time he has required such leave.
Speaking on 6PRโs Breakfast with Steve and Basil, Hagdorn responded to co-host Basil Zempilas' question - would Fremantle be doing the right thing cutting him loose?
โMy understanding is that itโs getting closer to that,โ Hagdorn said.
โFremantle have to make some agreement with Jesse Hogan and his management and certainly the AFL Players Association (are) playing a part in this.
โBut itโs as high as the new coach Justin Longmuir with respect to some of the deputations heโs had and some of the discussions heโs had with some of his senior players.
โThe decision looks as though itโs going to head towards Fremantle moving Jesse Hogan on.
โI donโt think Jesse Hogan will play for Fremantle again.
โHeโs been on shaky ground for 12 months since heโs been there, from coaching staff particularly, and certainly some of the senior players.
โItโs been ongoing, heโs been a repeat offender of undisciplinary acts. The clubโs had to take some action, at times theyโve denied all that.
โThis is one that we have to tiptoe around because of the mental health circumstances surrounding all this.โ
Contracted until the end of 2021, Hagdorn revealed Hogan's contracted isn't as lucrative as expected and is performance-based.
โI donโt think enough people are aware, the contract heโs on is pretty slim,โ Hagdorn added.
โIt was very performance-based. He had to be playing football to be getting paid well, it was high money per game, it was conforming to some behavioural requirements.
โIf Fremantle are going to do a very compassionate arrangement to allow and help Jesse Hogan to continue to receive money while he heโs going to need some assistance through his mental health circumstances, Fremantle and his management will have to come to some agreement.
โThe contract heโs on is not offering a lot of money.
โBut if you can say itโs a health issue, itโs an injury equivalent and he might have been getting paid that amount per game, then theyโll have to come to some agreement.
โThatโs where itโs very delicate.โ
