Geelong coach Chris Scott's old-fashioned spray in Round 1 was a glimpse of football's past.
The Cats trailed by 33 points at quarter-time against Fremantle in front of a home crowd, and stared down the barrel of a 0-2 start for the third time in Scott's tenure.
"We weren't playing the way we wanted to play," Geelong forward Shannon Neale shared shortly after they secured the victory.
"I think the word disgraceful was used."
Geelong assistant coach Nathan Buckley said, on Fox Footy, Scott's quarter-time assault was "a four or five out of 10".
Scott's spray was reminiscent of his predecessors, and with that, we've taken the liberty of compiling the top 10 coaching sprays.
6Ken Sheldon vs Craig Devonport
St Kilda coach Ken Sheldon stormed down the coaching race to the white picket fence in 1992, with his eyes firmly on Craig Devonport.
The Saints were on a primetime slot, playing Collingwood on Queen's Birthday but were failing to deliver on the big stage.
Sheldon, in a bid to inspire his troops, especially Devonport, yanked his guernsey and screamed into his face. Albeit without audio, there seemed to be a suggestion that if Davenport wasn't up to the task, he can go home.
The barney between player and coach miraculously worked, with the Saints turning the tide of the game. Devonport kicked the winning goal, proving the old-fashion sprays can be effective.
