Tom Liberatore has been sidelined with a quadricep injury as the Western Bulldogs step up pre-season preparations.

Liberatore suffered a strain earlier this week and is expected to miss around two weeks.

Club sources are adamant the gun midfielder is not in doubt for the Bulldogs' Opening Round clash against reigning premiers Brisbane or the club's practice matches next month.

Liberatore has been trialled out of the middle in recent match simulation at Whitten Oval, spending time at half-back.

But the 33-year-old midfield beast remains integral to the Bulldogs' chances this year.
