After a hectic round of Easter football, clubs are assessing the injuries sustained on the weekend.

The Bulldogs have detailed the injury of a young star.

The Lions are preparing to welcome a premiership forward back into the mix.

Essendon will have two notable names suit up on ANZAC Day after overcoming respective injuries.

Here's the latest on the injury front across the AFL landscape...

Fremantle star's injury timeline revealed, also confirm hamstring complaint for midfielder

The Dockers have confirmed Jaeger O'Meara has sustained a hamstring and foot injury after sitting out the fourth quarter against Melbourne on Saturday.

Fremantle are yet to reveal a timeline however due to the strange nature of the injury.

โ€œIt was a bit of a difficult one for Jaeger โ€” he's had a little tweak of his hamstring and in the same incident he's actually hurt his foot,โ€ Fremantle High Performance Manager Phil Merriman said.

โ€œWe are working through the scans and going through that process at the moment.

โ€œWe'll know more in the next few days.โ€

Meanwhile, Nat Fyfe is looking at a 5-7 week timeline before making a return to action after sustaining a hamstring injury in the WAFL during Gather Round weekend.

โ€œFyfey is going well. He's begun his on-field running progressions, so he's looking at about five to seven weeks,โ€ Merriman said.

Young Hawthorn star to make VFL return

Hawthorn forward Calsher Dear is set to make his football return after being sidelined with a back stress fracture since the cusp of the season.

Dear will play a half of VFL this week, which is expected to be followed by a full game in the reserves before making his case for selection.

Carlton pair brush off injury blues

Two Blues are set to return as long as they pass fitnes tests this week, with Harry McKay aiming for a return from a concussion sustained against the Eagles in Round 5.

Lachie Cowan is also aiming for a full week of training without any hiccups to make his case for selection after dealing with a hamstring injury.

Additionally, Jacob Weitering has "recovered well" from a knee-on-knee knock against North Melbourne, which raised fears of a potential PCL injury at the time. However, there has been no damage, and the defensive general will play against the Cats this Sunday.

Star GWS duo face tests to return

Giants stars Jesse Hogan and Stephen Coniglio both will undergo fitness tests before being named in the Giants side for Round 7.

Hogan was a late out against the Crows with calf tightness while Coniglio is returning from a glute injury.

Both made it through Tuesday's training unscathed but will need to continue that trend at Thursday's main training.

North Melbourne wingman to miss Port Adelaide clash, defender pressing case for selection

Kangaroo Zac Fisher will miss the trip to Adelaide Oval after sustaining a hamstring injury against Carlton on Good Friday.

The minor strain means Fisher is expected to miss just one week, largely as a precaution given his soft tissue history.

"Zac's scan showed very minimal disruption and his strength and function is at a high level at this early stage, which is great," North Melbourne head of performance Kevin White said.

"Given his injury history and interruptions across pre-season, we will hold Zac out from selection this week and enable a full recovery in preparation for next week."

Jackson Archer is a test to return however, as he also overcomes a hamstring concern.

Archer has not returned to the AFL side since receiving a three-match suspension against the Bulldogs in Round 1.

"Jackson is progressing really well, having completed main training with the group this morning," White said.

"He has already hit his strength markers and needs to tick off his soft tissue run protocol and train on Thursday to declare himself available to play."

Gold Coast veteran available for selection

Gold Coast veteran David Swallow will return to action - either AFL or VFL - for the Suns this weekend after recovering from a PCL injury sustained in the pre-season Community Series match against Sydney.

Ironically, his return coincides with Gold Coast's AFL and VFL clashes against the Swans this weekend.

St Kilda defence to be bolstered by returnee

St Kilda's defence is primed to be bolstered by the inclusion of Dougal Howard this weekend.

The return is pending a fitness test, but the 29-year-old "has done everything" to make a sharp turnaround from injured to available.

โ€œDougal has been very diligent in his recovery, having done everything possible to get his body in the best shape to play post-surgery,โ€ St Kilda footy boss David Misson said.

Young star Mattaes Phillipou is also just 1-2 weeks off of returning from a stress injury in his leg.

Adelaide forward pair in race to reach fitness

Crows forward Josh Rachele is edging closer to a return from a rib injury, while key forward Darcy Fogarty is progressing well to make his case for selection after a sternoclavicular joint strain suffered against GWS last week.

โ€œFortunately when we scanned it the next day it was pretty minor and he will run today and if he gets through everything we want him to, we'll test him out on Thursday before making a decision on his availability this weekend,โ€ Adelaide high performance manager Darren Burgess said on Fogarty.

โ€œJosh (Rachele) did some contact yesterday and will do some more contact today, we're anticipating he will get through that and make himself available for Friday night's game so that's good news."

Two Port Adelaide defenders to be potential inclusions

Key defender Brandon Zerk-Thatcher will be welcomed back from a pre-season back injury in Round 7.

Zerk-Thatcher suffered the acute lumbar disc injury in February but has rejoined the training group over the last fortnight to make his case for availability this week.

Meanwhile, defender Ryan Burton is a test to return from a hip flexor strain.

Bombers welcome return of key forward, winger to retain spot

Essendon key forward Kyle Langford is set to return from a hamstring injury suffered in Round 1 against Hawthorn.

It will be an immense inclusion to a Bombers side with depleted talls stocks after Sam Draper, Nick Bryan and Tom Edwards have been cruelly dealt with long-term injuries in the past fortnight.

Xavier Duursma is also expected to play, despite suffering a brutal knee to the abdomen against West Coast, which saw the winger taken to hospital.

Sam Draper will undergo surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles this week.

Premiership Lion to make Round 7 return

Young forward Kai Lohmann will return from an ankle injury that has sidelined the 21-year-old for portions of the 2025 season against St Kilda this Saturday.

Lohmann hasn't played since Round 3 after persisting soreness from a high ankle sprain suffered in Round 1.

Darcy downed, but not forgotten

Western Bulldogs' worst fears were allayed when scans confirmed that Sam Darcy didn't tear his ACL in the victory over St Kilda.

Darcy suffered an impaction fracture to his left knee following the hyperextension, which also caused associated ligament damage at the back of his knee.

It is expected that the 21-year-old will need surgery.

Bulldogs head of sports medicine Chris Bell detailed the damage from the hyperextension.

โ€œOn landing, his knee jammed back into hyper-extension. This mechanism has pinched the bones at the front of his knee joint together, while also overstretching the ligaments and soft tissue at the back of his knee," Bell said.

โ€œWe are currently working through opinions and options on how to best manage Sam, and will update his return-to-play timeline in the coming days.โ€

Tigers cavalry to return

Richmond could be buoyed by the return of Rhyan Mansell to the side, while ACL victim Judson Clarke is expected to play on the weekend.

Mansell has been missing since he was suspended for three matches against St Kilda, but hurt his shoulder in the same contest.

The crafty forward has overcome the injury and will be available for selection.

As for Clarke, he has ticked all the boxes and will feature at some level this weekend.

However, veteran Dion Prestia remains an unknown as his achilles continues to offer problems in his recovery.

Forward-ruck Samson Ryan will miss at least the next fortnight with a foot issue, with the club sending him for scans.
