Premiership Demon Angus Brayshaw is reportedly set to hold off on contract discussions with Melbourne until later into the year.

Brayshaw is among a plethora of star players eligible to enter free agency this season and is one of four Demons players classified as a free agent in 2022.

The gun midfielder joins pacey defender Jayden Hunt and rookie-listed pair Majak Daw and Mitch Brown as those yet to recommit past the end of the year.

The short number of free agents come after the Demons' stellar past 12 months of retention signings, having seen star names in Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver, Max Gawn, Jake Lever, Christian Salem, Sam Weideman, Alex Neal-Bullen and Harrison Petty all re-sign in the past year alone.

The buy-in culture placed the Demons on track for a drought-breaking premiership win, however it could see the club's front office struggle to compete with market price offers for Brayshaw should rivals circle.

According toย The Herald Sun,ย the 26-year-old is set to hold off on negotiations with the club as they embark on a season in search of successive premiership glory.

The Western Australia-born Sandringham product is set to be subject to offers from keen suitors should he remain unsigned come the latter half of this year.

The Dockers may be keen to combine Brayshaw with his brother Andrew at Fremantle, while the Kangaroos reportedly showed interest in the 119-gamer during his career-best campaign of 2018 before he signed a new four-year deal.

While any external advances may emerge for the premiership wingman, Brayshaw is understood to be satisfied with life in the red and blue.

News Corp'sย report has also suggested that fellow WA Demon Luke Jackson is seen as a priority signing for Melbourne, who are tipped to table a lucrative new deal toward the talented youngster.

Both Jackson and Brayshaw played significant roles in the Demons' grand final win last September, enjoying premiership glory whilst back in their home state.

Melbourne will begin their 2022 campaign with a rematch against the Dogs, scheduled for Wednesday, March 16 at the MCG to open the new season.
