A song co-written by a premiership coach has caught the attention of the footy world this weekend.

'Tooth 'n' nail' is a football song by Sunset and the Windy Hills, with Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge helping musician Andrew Kidman write the song.

The lyrics articulate some important footy messages that fans, particularly of the Bulldogs, can connect with.

The song was released on Saturday and it may be played at Western Bulldogs home games.

Clubs are increasingly turning to music to resonate with fans, with Port Adelaide becoming synonymous for using INXS classic Never Tear Us Apart at home games, and Brisbane playing John Denver's Take Me Home, Country Roads after Charlie Cameron goals.

Western Bulldogs' major sponsor, Mission, is referenced in one of the lines of the song.

Beveridge coached the Dogs to the 2016 premiership and has a 142-109 coaching record.

Former Melbourne star forward Russell Robertson is another known AFL figure to have dabbled in music.

The singer/guitarist released an 11-song album, Higher, in 2008, a year prior to his retirement.

Tooth 'n' Nail Lyrics

"Move and create,

Make the magic happen,

Paw prints merge in and under

Dogs on a mission,

Lightning decisions,

Minute by minute,

Stay in the moment."
