The Port Adelaide fan who threw a banana at Eddie Betts during the match on Saturday night has issued the following statement apologising for her actions.

I would like to sincerely apologise for my behaviour on Saturday night at the Showdown.

To the entire Port Adelaide Football Club community, I deeply regret any embarrassment I have caused as a result of my actions.

I apologise to Eddie Betts and the Adelaide Football Club as it was never my intention to cause harm or distress to your players or supporters.

Going to a game of football is meant to be a fun and enjoyable event for all and I apologise for ruining it for so many.

I regret my momentary lapse of judgement and I did not attend the game with the predetermined attitude of bringing the game into disrepute or to offend anyone.

Unfortunately, the emotions of the game got the better of me and I hope you all accept my apology.

I will accept the sanctions given to me as a result of this incident, with the strongest understanding that there is no place for this kind of behaviour.

  2. Clearly no written by her. It reads too well. As others have said, only doing it because she was caught out. You do not just become that kind of person, don’t try convince us it was a once off.

  3. if she did or she didnt go to the game to deliberately throw a banana at Eddie Betts we would never know – we can only assume. She was caught and has apologised for her actions. She wont be able to attend another game to re-offend. A lifetime without footy. thats a massive punishment. im also wondering about the little kid on the fence. he looks about 6-8 years old and he flips the bird and you can see him mouthing cuss words. Does he get banned for life too? or because he didnt have any fruit available he only threw out swear words and flips the bird that his behaviour is ok? im sure not all Port fans are this bad but geez some of their fans are doing any of them any favours at all.
    And then people on here go on and call the girl a whore or then subject her because of her looks(Red hair). seriously. who is in the wrong here? maybe everyone just needs to pull their head in.
