Port Adelaide could be looking at a quieter opening draft to start their new era under incoming senior coach Josh Carr, with the Power not in possession of their first-round pick for 2025.
The South Australian club does have some clear list needs, however, and Craft of the Draft took a look at the Power's potential draft plans for this year.
The club's key position stocks should be an area of focus, according to analyst Jonty Ralphsmith, who named South Australian defender Elliott Duffield and Western Australia's Lochlain Carpenter as options for them to consider in defence.
"A tall at either end of the ground for me. Probably more a tall defender than a tall forward," Ralphsmith said.
"If you're looking at tall defenders, then the obvious ones we always do are the ones out of South Australia, so Elliott Duffield could be one to look at.
"From a tall forward point of view, I think that's where the players who could sit in that Pick 26 range. A player like Liam Hetherton could slip as a result of that injury. For a club that does want a bargain key forward, he is one that could end up slipping.
"Lochlain Carpenter is another key defender who deserves some attention."
Craft of the Draft host Mitch Keating listed a small forward in the later stages of the draft that could be of interest to Port Adelaide, who only hold selections 26, 44 and 62 overall.
Keating named local livewire Zane Peucker one for the Power to consider, as is Vic Country goalsneak Talor Byrne.
Peucker's Woodville-West Torrens teammate Jevan Phillipou is a hard-working midfielder who could also suit the Power in the long run. He is a prospect who is both local and could potentially be in the range of Port Adelaide's opening pick.
"They got some nice pieces last year, but there are a few more they could add while they're entering this Josh Carr era," Keating said.
"I think small forwards (is an area to improve). Zane Peucker is a local, Talor Byrne is one.
"There's a couple more options, and more locals for them to consider. Maybe a Jevan Phillipou if he's in that right range for their first pick.
"They might not have a grasp on where Zak Butters' playing future is, but it is good to have that next line of midfielders."
