Port Adelaide's Zak Butters has undergone surgery on a problematic adductor.

Butters missed the opening month of the 2025 season with a knee injury but returned to his brilliant best to produce a stellar individual campaign, despite the club failing to make the finals.

The Power confirmed the 25-year-old's surgery was successful, saying he "underwent a successful adductor release, to relieve discomfort on his groin that he had been managing throughout the season."

"Butters' recovery is expected to have minimal impact on his pre-season and preparation for 2026," a club update read.

Butters managed groin issues throughout the year, as well as constant trade speculation despite being contracted for 2026.

The three-time John Cahill medallist has been strongly linked to a move back to Victoria, with the Western Bulldogs and Geelong deemed the most likely destinations.

Port Adelaide has been steadfast in its retention of Butters.
