Port Adelaide's Zak Butters says he is "very happy" at the club, but admits he hasn't made up his mind regarding his future beyond 2026.

Butters is the biggest name in free agency, with a host of Victorian sides vying for his signature.

"There's always discussions with management and Port Adelaide," Butters said to AFL Media.

"They go on a long time before the call comes up. Both parties are on the same page. There's been multiple chats already.

"I haven't quite made up my mind, and I feel like it's something that will take a bit more time, but I'm very happy at the club. Very happy with Josh. Very happy with the teammates.

"I'm pretty settled in Adelaide. I live with Mitch Georgiades, which I really enjoy.

"I'm really looking forward to getting into another season with Port, and doing something special."

Geelong and the Western Bulldogs are early front-runners given the star midfielders' links to country Victoria.

Essendon and Collingwood have also been mentioned as potential destinations.

Butters also noted how it was an "easy transition" between senior coaches, farewelling Ken Hinkley as Josh Carr took over.

Carr was the Power's midfield coach, and had worked closely with the 25-year-old over the past three years.

"It was an easy transition with Josh coming in as senior coach," Butters added.

"I had an existing relationship with him over three years, working directly with him in my line group, so it made it pretty easy for me personally.

"I really value and respect the way he looks at the game, and how he wants the game to be played."
