Port Adelaide star and premiership player Shaun Burgoyne has had a life membership bestowed upon him at the club's 2025 best and fairest event.
Burgoyne is a legend of the game and spent nine years at the Power, playing 157 games, including the 2004 premiership.
The man referred to as "Silk" was also an All-Australian in 2006, as well as a Showdown medallist (R20, 2005).
Burgoyne was initially drafted with Pick 12 in the 2000 National Draft by the Alberton club, following in the footsteps of his older brother, Peter.
"Thank you to the Life Member Committee for acknowledging my career at Port Adelaide," Burgoyne said.
"It's very humbling to join the Life Members who have received this award before.
"You don't get to play footy without the people who are there to support you. To my family, for setting me on the right track as a kid, providing me a path into football.
"To my wife, Amy, thank you for your love and support and your sacrifice through a number of years of football. And to my kids, thank you for being the best part of my life."
Burgoyne's status in the AFL continued following his time after Port Adelaide at Hawthorn, where he added another 250 games to reach 407 in total, as well as three premierships in the brown and gold.
After retiring at the end of 2021, the 42-year-old returned to Alberton and has since held multiple roles across the football department and Power Community Ltd., particularly working within the club's Aboriginal programs, writes the club.
He's also spent time in the commentary box for Channel 7 and Fox Footy, with the latter signing him on for 2025.
