Port Adelaide has decided against offering assistant coach and club great Chad Cornes a contract for the 2026 season.
The decision comes ahead of Josh Carr's arrival as head coach, with Ken Hinkley stepping aside from his duties at the cessation of the current season.
Cornes joined the Power's coaching group at the end of the 2025 season after three years with GWS, with the former Port Adelaide forward taking on the role of head coach of the club's SANFL side.
He would later step into the role of forwards coach, holding his place in Hinkley's team since.
The Power made the decision to not offer Cornes a renewed contract ahead of the August 1 deadline.
"Chad has been an outstanding servant of our club as a premiership player, as a coach within our program since returning at the end of 2015 and of course as a member of our Hall of Fame," Port Adelaide football boss Chris Davies said.
"Given his tenure at the club, we wanted to provide Chad with clarity as early as possible so he has maximum time to consider his future."
Cornes played 239 of his 255 career games with the Power between 1998-2011, eventually joining GWS for the last two seasons of his career.
In his time as a versatile key position player, Cornes was selected in the All-Australian team twice and was a key member of the club's 2004 premiership side.
He would later be inducted into the club's Hall of Fame.
