Forgotten Port Adelaide defender Tom Clurey is reportedly open to being dealt away from Alberton at the conclusion of this season.

The 29-year-old Clurey, whose only 2023 senior appearance for the Power this season came in Round 3's Showdown against the Adelaide Crows, was not a part of Port Adelaide's record-breaking winning run, having been sidelined with a back injury, as well as generally finding himself out of favour with the club's match committee across the last couple of seasons.

According to AFL.com.au's Callum Twomey on Gettable, the injured veteran is thought to be open to switching teams at the conclusion of the year.

"Tom Clurey's contracted until the end of 2025 but he's open to a trade, Port Adelaide, he's been out of that side, a bit of injury throughout this year as well, they're (Port Adelaide) obviously looking at the key-position market," reported Twomey.

Since Clurey is bound by his Port Adelaide contract for the next pair of seasons, if a team comes calling for the Victorian, it will need to cough up draft capital in return.

As mentioned by Twomey, Port Adelaide is "looking at the key-position market", having previously been linked to out-of-contract Geelong defender Esava Ratugolea.

While Ratugolea is without a contract at year's end, his six seasons served precludes him from free-agent status in 2023, meaning the Power would likely need to orchestrate a trade with the Cats if the two parties' interest is mutual.

As Port Adelaide seemingly searches for key-position defensive depth out-of-house, Clurey, a ten-year Power servant, may also be looking elsewhere.
