Port Adelaide's Josh Sinn completed a successful reconstruction surgery on his right shoulder, following consult with a surgeon about continuous discomfort and instability.

The club released the following statement: "Port Adelaide defender Josh Sinn underwent a successful reconstruction of his right shoulder on Friday.

"The 23-year-old consulted a surgeon earlier this week after dealing with ongoing progressive discomfort and instability following a series of incidents throughout the pre-season.

"The decision was made that surgery was the best course of action to resolve the issue and prevent further damage.

"Sinn will be sidelined for an extended period, with an initial expected recovery timeline of five to six months."

The dashing defender managed to get through most of last season, despite the troublesome shoulder.

He said in January that he'd participated in the majority of the pre-Christmas training.

The defender made his debut in 2022 but has unfortunately suffered a number of injuries. Despite this, he managed to play career-high 20 games in the 2025 season.

Sinn has been touted as the club's primary rebounding defender following Dan Houston's departure over 12 months ago.

This season, sadly, looks to be dramatically less successful with his initial recovery timeline is expected to be 5 to 6 months.

Port Adelaide will kick off season 2026 against North Melbourne on Sunday at Marvel Stadium.
