Port Adelaide have confirmed young midfielder Xavier Duursma is set to miss "a period of football" after suffering a torn posterior cruciate ligament in Friday's win over St Kilda.
The 22-year-old sustained the injury from a collision with Saints tall Rowan Marshall in the opening quarter of the match, with Duursma subbed out of the contest by the first break of the night.
Duursma underwent scans over the weekend which confirmed the extent of the setback, with the club confirming a likely timeframe for his return will be known in the next week.
"Wingman Xavier Duursma will miss a period of football after he was confirmed to have suffered a tear of the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee," a club statement read.
"A timeframe for the 22-year-old's return to football will become clearer over coming days."
A likely return date for a torn PCL will be close to eight weeks after the injury was sustained, meaning the wingman will likely remain on the sidelines until after the bye rounds.
Port Adelaide's break is scheduled for Round 15, which will be followed by a Round 16 bout with Essendon at the MCG.
Duursma's injury sees the fifth-year Power player join Orazio Fantasia (quad), Kane Farrell (jaw), Mitch Georgiades (knee) and Todd Marshall (concussion) at the Alberton Oval casualty ward heading into Round 8.
Port Adelaide will face Essendon this Sunday at Adelaide Oval as they search for their sixth win of the season.
